ABOUT

I am a creative, multi-skilled, and proactive freelance costume maker with experience in garment research and design, as well as pattern cutting and construction techniques, which means I can take a costume from conception to completion in my home workshop. I have a clean, spacious home workshop, ideal for making traditionally sewn costumes, which includes a digital embroidery machine, an overlocker, and a sewing machine. I also have an outdoor studio space dedicated to working with materials that can be a bit messier, like foam, thermoplastics, glues, and paints.

I am passionate about visual storytelling, which has led me to become a costumier, but I am equally passionate about helping people to feel as comfortable and confident as possible, regardless of whether or not they are performing. This is why I offer my services for designing and making bespoke clothing as well as costumes. I pride myself on being adaptable, being able to make high-quality garments regardless of the available budget.

I am particularly interested in fantasy and otherworldly costumes. My previous experience making fantasy costumes has given me a strong level of knowledge about historical dress, as these designs are often adapted to create fantasy costumes. I have taken pride in adapting existing designs for use in Cosplay, as well as designing costumes for characters at Live Action Role Play events.

I am very confident in pattern drafting and making sewn garments, but I also have some experience with puppet making. Millinery and leatherwork, which utilise the skills that I am looking to improve through my practice. I am experienced with decorative textile techniques, fabric dying, and breaking down, which are all key in creating a fully realised costume.

I am a strong team player, equally comfortable working unsupervised, and have the proven ability to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results. I also have experience working as part of a theatrical wardrobe team, taking care to maintain and organise costumes while ensuring that performers are comfortable. I hope to be able to utilise these skills within the film industry in the future. I enjoy working for both performance companies and private clients.

My previous work includes adapting illustrations from the graphic novel Monstress, written by Marjorie Liu and drawn by Sana Takeda. I have also designed and made a Dame costume for the British Airways Cabin Crew Entertainment Society’s rendition of Jack and the Beanstalk, as well as making a lead costume for Marjon University’s 9-5: The Musical. I have experience in designing and making costumes according to simple stimuli such as ‘Plymouth’, ‘Loneliness’, and ‘Health’, as well as designing and making costumes for a wide variety of characters at Live Action Role Play events.
